The Canadian government recently announced plans to deliberately cull the harp seal herd and this action has no scientific justification and causes these animals undue inhumane suffering. According to official records, more than 91,000 harp seals were killed during last year's Canadian hunt, which is the only commercial mammal hunt in the world to take place in Spring, at the height of the birthing season. This year 321,199 animals have already been slaughtered out of the 350,000 the Canadian government authorized. According to Ian Robinson, a Norfolk-based RSPCA veterinarian - "We found obvious levels of suffering which would not be tolerated in any other animal industry in the world". He also stated that existing regulations are neither respected nor enforced. Please do your part to help these animals by completing your petition to call for an end to this cruel hunt.
