Airfare for HAZEL Exclamation Rally round and put some Quid in the jar mate Exclamation When I traded foreign exchange "Quid" was the industry name for the British Pound Sterling. Now Euros will do just fine folks Shocked I hope everyone of you gets to go to visit the Sanctuary someday. You will be quite impressed Cool

What thread am I in Question I am so rusty on posting but this is major cool and I cant wait to tell you.. OK - Hurricane Updates Exclamation Immediately after the storm, first you could open a door or stand up outside I went out to look at the damage lying about... OMG it was major devastation. Telephone pole after telephone pole snapped in half everywhere. The largest trees who always survived these storms laying flat on the ground with their feet in the air. It is so hard to comprehend nature's way of making us start over.

I was walking surveying the damage & well what do we have here.... all types of things mixed in with the felled trees and twisted metal. I stood with the rays of sun out finally shining on hundred of little tiny china plates & cups! That's right - mixed in with the rubble and wedged in the branches of the trees & brush - so many were unbroken it seemed a miracle. Where did they come from Question God only knows. They only seemed to be only near my place. I confess I still love having tiny dishes plus I really NEED them for the baby animals & kittens & they were the perfect size. I looked up to the sky - THANK YOU Wink

So many animals needed help after the storm finding their way back home and especially the small baby wildlife. This little guy was hiding under a big leaf and he thought I couldnt see him stranded in the middle of the day and he was alone. For a nocturnal marsupial you know something was very wrong.
Meet Barney:

The first person I thought of was Laura - with her "Posse" she discovered in the shed only hers was larger. Left alone and he finally made his way back to the wild. This one was much too little to leave to fend for himself and I had a feeling I was going to be sent more than just dishes Exclamation What a blessing to be able to take care of the creatures Very Happy His name is Barney since we are on the Flintsone's plan down here lately - Wilma and all. So many jokes out there and he did not like the name Fred so Barney it is and he is eating all by himself on tiny china plates.

He has to eat every 2-3 hours & you get used to sleeping with one eye open when you are caring for the baby animals. Rubbing little tummies with warm cotton balls so everything comes out OK - Jason would be proud Exclamation 4 Days now and he is growing strong. I cant find any other babies in that area so he can have a brother or sister and I cannot find any signs of his mother. Day by day - let's hope we all find our way.

HEHE ace...quids it still is...we havent got to the euros yet. I hope i will one day get to go to the sanctuary...I know i love it already..and am very impressed.

What a wonderful wonderful post......fantastic pictures...How heart warming is it to see something like that, to see a good thing come out of something bad that just happened to you all. Ace How wonderful of you to give this little guy another chance of life...shame for him losing his mother and all but now he has a chance to start a new life.

You know its people like you that make a difference to this world...i wish everyone was like that...this world would be a happier place.

A very touching story and thankyou ace for showing us all and sharing.

I hope you get yourself back on track soon...It must have been hard for you to see the devastation caused by wilma...all of you that have been affected by this. I consider myself very lucky indeed to live in a country that dont get hurricanes.

I bet you were as pleased as punch to find those little plates an all... Very Happy

Ace1fan what an incredible post here! Nice to meet you Barney Very Happy

I know you are so busy with hurricane jobs but you still manage to take care of an orphan without complaint (not to mention others you care for). On top of that you found time to post this in the forum! I don't know how you do it. Very inspiring to all of us.

Thanks so much -- I speak for everyone -- we enjoy the %#^%$ out of your posts.

Very Happy This hurricane baby is completely relevant to post more here. Please keep us up to date on how Barney is doing!

Awwww...Ace...what a cutie Barney is!! I hope he's doing great:) Thank God for people like you. So many would probably have left him there on his own:( Poor little guy.

You are so right, Kristie! There is so much that we don't see on the cams, but you can bet that some kind of work is always going on! TD rocks when it comes to the sanctuary and nobody can do it any better. The cams look so much better since some of the views have changed and since he cleaned the lens on the cams, and they are just awesome now and I've seen some great pics in the gallery. It is so great of him to take the time to do all that for us, when there are so many other things that need to be done. He never stops....Hehe...I wonder if he ever even sleeps and when he does, I bet he's dreaming up ways to improve what he's already perfecting!!! Great job, TD! You are the best!!! Laughing Wink
