Colombian teacher nurses abused lions and other wild animals back to health

This is the coolest story. Cool And of course I thought of Barbarylion & his love for the the big kitties, especially lions!

The setting for this story is Cali, Columbia, and the woman in the picture who is getting a HUGE hug, and stealing a kiss from that very large lion is a rehabber, who runs her own rescue facility! Her career of caring for animals started about 10 years when a friend gave her an owl that had been kept as a pet. -- LOOK AT HER NOW Exclamation Shocked She's like the Mother Teresa of the animal world.

Many of the animals at her facility are there because they were either orphaned by their parents or abandoned in the streets by their human caretakers and left to wander the streets in a city of 2 million people! Crying or Very sad However, there are those that were rescued from such horrifically abusive situations that I really wish their former owners could be punished with EXTREMELY LONG, HARSH sentences. Sadly, things don't usually work that way. Read the article to see how a cougar was punished for clawing a family member's face! Mad Evil or Very Mad

Torres ROCKS! She truly cares for these animals, putting their needs first -- and supports her rescues with money from teaching & donations. Those animal residents that survived the horrors of mistreatment can look forward to living in their "own little slice of paradise." Like Dave, she does not want the animals constantly disturbed and distressed by crowds of strangers and she has kept her sanctuary private -- their needs come first!

Quote:
Torres said she opposes exhibiting animals in circuses and has therefore kept her shelter closed to the public.

"We want the animals to live in peace," Torres said. "All their life they were shown at circuses and shows _ this is a paradise where they can finally rest."

Hats off to a fabulous lady!

Thanks so much for finding and putting this story on the forum Val this is the kind of person who is a real saint to animals I send a world prayer that there could be more people like her to help and protect animals.
If only people would stop being so cruel to the animals in there care then this sort of thing would not be needed but with Humans and there cruelty and meaness there is no hope of that ever happening
So I send a great big thankful prayer to people like Her and Dave and others who are doing what they can to help the animals that cant help themselves
