Not sure if anyone else noticed that fantastic story I saw the other day about this little Bat who was wounded and had managed to fly to what it thought was a safe perch but it turned out to be the foam covering the fuel tanks on the latest Space Shuttle launch. So this poor little bat got caught up in the actual launching into space of the Shuttle its a very sad end for a little bat but you have to think also What a Fantastic way to Go
I have a link to one story I found on the internet which is also the actual NASA website which tells you the facts of the story but the best one was on AOL the wording anyway but her is the link I found

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts119/launchbat.html

I have tracked down the AOL version of the story and must say love the way the writer has described the event hope you can all view it ok as sometimes I know AOL can be very awkward Laughing Laughing

That is so sad for the little bat, but as you said an awesome way to go.
I loved the way the writer described the last few minutes for the little fellow. Wink

AWESOME story suack! Very Happy
Quote:
Based on images and video, a wildlife expert who provides support to the center said the small creature was a free tail bat that likely had a broken left wing and some problem with its right shoulder or wrist. The animal likely perished quickly during Discovery’s climb into orbit.

What a way to go... poor little thing.
Thanks for sharing this with us.
